At Marlette Funding, we believe in enriching the community within our company as well as the local Wilmington community that surrounds us. One of the many ways our employees are empowered to give back to the community is by supporting the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Delaware’s Light the Night campaign throughout the year. Together, we helped continue to fund support and research by raising $49,785, a 33% increase from the funds we raised in 2018.

In order to raise money for the event, our Marlette Funding family held events such as potluck lunches, ping pong, and corn hole tournaments, a poker game, and a Friend and Family Board & Paint Night. A year’s worth of effort wrapped up with the Light the Night walk on October 5th. An average of 75 Marlette employees have participated in the walk in each of the past two years. This year’s event in Wilmington raised more than $450,000 and we’re proud to say that our team helped contribute to 10% of the overall earnings.

“For me, Light the Night’s mission is incredibly personal since 2015 when my niece was diagnosed with Chronic Myeloid Leukemia, a form of Leukemia that is very rare in children,” said Michael Milnes, Senior Director of Operations at Marlette Funding. “Marlette’s involvement with Light the Night is truly like no other, we strive to live the values and company culture both in and out of the office by being passionate about what’s important to us – helping others to achieve their dreams and working hard and celebrating success.”

Our team has presented at forums alongside the LLS leadership team and created forums within our industry to help promote the importance of this wonderful campaign.

Light the Night allows everyone and their families to come together to celebrate the success of our fundraising efforts but more important to help demonstrate the importance of LTN by showing our support. We are grateful to have such a wonderful team and each year we are amazed by their ability to come together and give back to our communities.
