Sponsorship and Volunteer Activities Align with April’s National Financial Literacy Month

Wilmington, DE – April 26, 2018Best Egg, the consumer lending brand of Marlette Funding, LLC, is providing both classroom education and other inspiring financially-related activities for Junior Achievement of Delaware (JA of DE).  This announcement coincides with National Financial Literacy Month, being celebrated throughout the month of April.

National Financial Literacy Month was created to raise awareness around long-term vision and planning for the future, and the discipline to use skills every day to gain financial freedom. The US puts great effort into teaching children to read and write, but we don’t give their financial literacy the same attention. As a result, few young people know how to manage their personal financial lives.  Best Egg is working to change this one state at a time, starting with its sponsorship of the JA of DE organization.

“Through activities and events including Shark Tank-like competitions called the JA Piranha Pond Pitch Event, JA Barracuda Bowl and in-classroom instruction, Best Egg supports the Junior Achievement of Delaware mission to inspire and prepare young people to exceed in work readiness, entrepreneurship, and financial literacy,” said Best Egg Chief Operating Officer, Jason Swift.

Creating an entrepreneurial eco-system, developing sustainable school to career pipelines, and prioritizing educational attainment as a young persons most critical financial decision are at the heart of what JA of DE is already doing for over 16,000 students throughout the state of Delaware; and in nearby Cecil and Salem Counties. “Through our corporate donation we look to increase students served and instructional contact hours delivered,” added Swift.

JA of DE has been doing competitive entrepreneurship for years, but on April 18, they dialed it up with the inaugural JA Barracuda Bowl Regional Competition. Seven JA companies from New Castle and Kent Counties, as well as Salem County, NJ, participated.

Best Egg’s Swift helped to select the winning JA company, Snappy Solutions, which will now submit an annual report and company commercial for an opportunity to be invited to compete in the National Student Leadership Summit in Washington, DC in June.
