What’s the difference between a clean title and a clear title?
Vehicle titles can be clean and clear,
But they aren’t always both.
Let’s break down what those statuses mean
So you’ll understand the difference

Clear titles, sometimes refer to as “free and clear,”
Mean that the car is owned outright,
And not leased or financed.

A title that is clean,
Means that the vehicle was never involved
In a flood, fire, or accident,
Where it was deemed a total loss by an insurance company.
Titles that are not clean
Are usually marked at the top as:
Salvage, flood, rebuilt, or junk.

If you aren’t sure if you have a clean title,
It may be a good idea to get a vehicle history report
